In Oman Shell Development Oman LLC employs 45 people and is involved in managing relationships with its key stakeholders and associated ventures in Oman. In addition to being involved in research, learning & development and managing and executing extensive social investment programmes that contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

Shell is active in Oman across the oil and gas industry and is involved in joint venture and independent activities ranging from research and development, exploration and production to trading and retail. Shell also implements extensive social investment programmes that contribute to the sustainable development of the country.

Royal Dutch Shell was formed in 1907, although our history dates back to the early 19th century, to a small shop in London where the Samuel family sold sea shells.

Fast facts for sustainable development in 2015

$122 million spent on voluntary social investment worldwide. Of this:

  • around $93 million spent on local programmes for community development, disaster relief, education, health and biodiversity; and
  • around $29 million spent on our three global strategic themes of enterprise development, road safety and energy access.

In lower-income countries, 75% of spending by Shell companies went to purchase goods and services from local companies. 

Our businesses in Oman

Oman LNG LLC

With a 30% share in the Oman LNG LLC. Shell was involved in the design and construction of the plant in Sur, as well as the development of gas wells, a gas processing plant and 352 kms of pipeline.

Shell Oman Marketing Company SAOG

A public limited company shared between Shell, with 49% ownership, and private investors, many of who are members of the Omani public. Shell Oman Marketing provides services, fuels, lubricants and greases, and manages a network of retail filling stations.

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO)

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is the foremost exploration and production company in the Sultanate and accounts for more than 70% of the country's crude oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply. The Company is owned by the Government of Oman, Royal Dutch Shell, Total and Partex.
