One of Shell Development Oman’s main social investment initiatives is to develop and empower young Omanis by developing their professional maturity and broadening their range of skills.
Training for Development
Doing so helps ensure they are able to secure jobs.
Every year, we facilitate various “Training for Development” programmes that are led by professional training experts. Students, public and private sector workers and NGO representatives continue to benefit from these courses.
Training for Employment
Educating young Omanis and providing them with the skills needed to enhance their employment and self-employment potential is a key theme of our social investment programmes. Shell has enabled more than 130 young Omanis to secure jobs during 2012 through this unique mechanism scheme where we identify relevant job opportunities in the market and work in collaboration with prospective employers to train suitable candidates for the jobs. Successful trainees are guaranteed a position once they have completed their training successfully.
In 2012 we supported 5 new programmes and managed to secure 90 job opportunities in the Oil & Gas sector and 40 job opportunities in other sectors.
